CALL FOR PAPERS

Translation Education in the 21st Century

Following the great success of three previous conferences, the 4th Cross-Strait Translation Forum is going to be held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It aims to bring together distinguished scholars and professors from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Macau to exchange ideas on the topical issues in the field of Translation Education today.

PAPER PRESENTATIONS:

We invite speakers to give a 20-minute presentation on the following areas:

1. Translation teaching (undergraduate and graduate)

2. Translation research (theory and practice)

3. Computer-aided translation and terminology

4. Interpreting and training

The Forum also entertains other subjects of Translation Studies.

ABSTRACTS:

Please email the title of your paper and an abstract of 250–300 words (in MS Word format) to Ms. Miranda Lui at miranda.lui@cuhk.edu.hk by March 31, 2008. Please also state your name, affiliation and official title.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE: May 15, 2008 via email.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: October 31, 2008.

CONFERENCE LANGUAGES: English and Chinese

REGISTRATION:

No registration fee is required. Accommodation and meals may be provided subject to budget approval.

TRANSLATION BOOK AND SOFTWARE EXHIBITION:

During the conference we will present an exhibition of translation books and software published by Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas publishers. The exhibition will give teachers and students excellent access to a diversity of translation books and software available for purchase while attending the Forum.
